ANA AGUIRRE-DEANDREIS, PH.D. Ana is a clinical psychologist with over twenty-five years experience providing psychological and psycho-educational assessments for children, teens and adults. She has extensive training in the areas of attention deficit challenges and executive dysfunctions as well as other learning difficulties. An assessment can help understand these areas of concern, determine helpful approaches, academic and social-emotional in nature, as well as document needed accommodations. Ana has trained in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and executive functioning coaching and has worked with adolescents as well as adults to help them understand their strengths and challenges, and develop helpful strategies. She is interested in how the combination of self-knowledge and action can lead to meaningful change to help achieve goals and enjoy life.
Ana obtained her undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and her PhD from the Clinical/Community psychology program at the University of Maryland.
Ana worked for the Amigo program, originating from the Child and Adult Services Center, providing school and home-based therapy services to the Latino population in Maryland. She also worked for Montgomery County in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. She has also provided consultation to groups interested in parenting and child development. For more than twenty-five years, she has been in private practice providing psychological services to children, adolescents, adults and families.
Ana was born in Uruguay and came to the United States as a child. Her bicultural and bilingual experience has given her a perspective on adjustment to change and bridging cultural differences, especially in the realm of child development and helping parents to communicate with and support their children.
As your psychologist, Ana will strive to determine your areas of strength as well as areas of challenge, and engage you in understanding yourself or your child. In this way, helpful steps can be taken toward addressing difficulties as well as enhancing a positive sense of self.
