Maria Loreto received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology at Diego Portales University in Chile. Her postgraduate studies include a training program in psychodynamic therapy for children and adolescents, a certificate program in play therapy, and a certificate program in relational psychoanalysis for children and adolescents.
Maria has spent the vast majority of her career, which spans 20 years, in Chile, where she worked in diverse organizations as well as in her private practice. She lived in the Washington, DC area from 2004 to 2008, where she had the opportunity to work in a school environment and a community clinic.
She is excited about being back in the Washington, DC area and continuing her practice here. Maria is expanding her horizons by dedicating her time to topics such as adult trauma, Depression, Life Transitions, Personal Growth, Stress Management, and relational psychoanalysis. Maria is also well-trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and works with people from a very wide array of backgrounds.
Maria believes that the more we are aware of ourselves, the easier it will be for us to walk through the path of life in order to achieve our goals. She also believes that keeping a healthy mental life involves developing positive relationships with the people around us, so we feel connected, loved, and safe in the community we share.
