What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment typically lasts an hour. During this initial intake session, your clinician will conduct a thorough assessment of your mental health and discuss your goals and expectations for treatment.
How should I feel after my first appointment?
Your first session can be exhausting. Sharing your emotions and bringing up painful memories and feelings can be emotionally draining. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed and tired.
Does what we talk about remain confidential?
Confidentiality is one of the most important components of the relationship between a client and psychotherapist. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust with highly sensitive subject matter that is usually not discussed anywhere but in the therapist's office. Every therapist should provide a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement, and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone. This is called “Informed Consent”. Your therapist cannot release this information without obtaining your written permission.
How can coaching help me?
Coaching will assist you in identifying your values, strengths and desires, transforming them into actions, and maintaining lasting change. The process helps you align aspects of your life, well-being or health with you values in an easy to talk to, compassionate, and understanding setting.
What should I expect from a coaching session?
Every coaching relationship is unique and the process is personalized to you. Over the course of your sessions, we will assess your baseline wellness, explore your values and strengths, determine your goals, create a vision of yourself, experiment with what works for you, and review and evolve the process as necessary.
